The Birkman Method
March 18, 2010The Birkman Method is an assessment developed by psychologist, Roger W. Birkman, Ph.D. It measures the motivations, interests and behaviors of employees. It provides valuable insight which can be used to screen potential employees, facilitate team and career development and help solve interpersonal conflict.
The test consists of 298 questions can be taken online. It takes about 45 minutes to complete and measures the following perspectives:
Usual Behavior
The way an employee behaves normally, without stress.
Underlying Needs
The employee expectations of how relationships and social situations should be governed in context of the relationship or situation; how the employee expects to be treated.
Stress Behaviors
The way an employee may behave in a stressful situation, or when their Underlying Needs are not met.
Interests
The employee’s expressed preference for job titles based on the assumption of equal economic rewards.
Organizational Focus
The employee’s perspective on problems and solutions relating to organizational goals.
After the test is completed, a comprehensive 50 page report is compiled on all of these perspectives. The cost for an individual to take this test costs $495 and includes a minimum 1 hour consultation.
